Posted by Geoffrey Wilson in : Live Face-to-Face Seminars 2008 with Geoffrey Wilson , trackback

Shi liao is essentially the art of preparing medicinal food dishes using carefully selected ingredients to treat specific health conditions. Recipes are designed on the basis of promoting health, preventing sickness, treating disease, supporting recuperation and sustaining rejuvenation.

Of the four pillars of health, diet is generally regarded as the most important and urgent because food is understood to be the primary cause of sickness, as well as the pivotal source of longevity.

In this seminar, you will learn how to: produce a medicinal food profile that is relevant for treatment practice; investigate the framework of Oriental medicine in order to diagnose and treat health problems accurately and competently; evaluate the effectiveness of the holistic approach to food therapy; and, establish guidelines for best practice.

Topics covered include:
• The medicinal properties of foods
• Basis of Chinese medicine
• The organ systems
• Identifying patterns of disharmony
• The dynamics of balance in food therapy
• The seven levels of eating
• Principles of remedial diet
• Doctrine of Signatures
• Food classification systems

This seminar is the perfect introduction to the Oriental Nutritional Medicine Practitioner Course.
Times and dates in Sydney, cost, and venue to be announced.

Sounds like a great course.

Would I need lots of special foods that I don’t currently have?

There are a number of Chinese herbs that are used to make the wines and congees.

Also, there are some specialty foods here and there that can be purchased through health food stores.
